Our team of assessors comes from an operational ATC background with detailed knowledge of both civil and military ATC operations, including equipment used, and procedures.  We see both the airport and developers point of view.  This constructive approach has resulted in accepted mitigation promoting a balanced and safe conclusions, as demonstrated for both on shore and major off shore developments including Gwynt - Y - Mor (Liverpool Bay) and Sheringham Shoal (Norfolk).  We have also been involved in expert witness evidence at Public Inquiries and to date have not lost any representation on aviation grounds.

We also advise airports who may be having a particular issue with a proposed development.

Major Airport Projects

In 2009, APD advised land owners on the implications of aerodrome safeguarding, noise, Public Safety Zone criteria on the design of major commercial development on land adjoining major UK and Irish Airports.  This included Public Inquiry work, and the assessment of alternative airport configurations to reduce operational land whilst maintaining adequate runway capacity.

Aircraft Performance Assessment

In support of an airport considering ways to strengthen bids to attract new operations, the company conducted detailed analysis of proposed routes and aircraft types.  The information was used to strengthen the quality of business case presentations.

European Airport acquisitions

For private investor, APD conducted operational audits on potential aquisitions at aerodromes in Germany and Hungary.

Sheffield Business Park  (Sheffield City Airport)

APD  continues to provide operational advice to Sheffield Business Park Emergency Services Helicopter Centre.

Newquay Cornwall Airport (Planning)

APD provides planning advice to Cornwall Airport Ltd/ Cornwall Council.

George Best Belfast City Airport

APD is advising Belfast Harbour Commission on the implications of the airport's proposal to extend the runway.

Palmyra Airport (Syria)

APD is advising government on the location and outline configuration of a new airport for Palmyra, and an interim strategy for maintaining air services to the city in the short term.

Sohar Airport (Oman)

APD is providing operations and equipment requirement advice to the design and development team responsible for the new Sohar Airport, particularly in relation to the passenger terminal.
